Bank Collects Despite Not Producing Agreement

13/10/2010

Barclaycard has been successful in obtaining the approval of the High Court to collect a £13,000 credit card debt from a customer who sought to have it ruled uncollectable because Barclaycard could not produce the original document showing that he had agreed to their terms and conditions.

Because Barclaycard had a standard agreement to which all users had to agree, the absence of the man’s signed agreement was not proof that he would have been given a Barclaycard on different terms.
