Charge for Search Abolished

09/10/2010

Following the abolition of Home Information Packs, the Government has abolished the statutory fee for personal searches of councils’ Local Land Charges Registers. The searches tell a home buyer about restrictions or issues affecting a property that will become binding on successive owners, such as planning conditions, conservation areas and protected trees. The move by the Deparment for Communities and Local Government will ensure compliance with EU environmental law.
