The proposed introduction of the Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), originally scheduled to be brought in two years ago, has now been delayed again and is unlikely to be implemented until 2011.
The main benefit of the CIO is that it will allow charities to operate as companies without having to meet the regulatory requirements of both the Charity Commission and the Registrar of Companies.
