Council Settles Night Club Claims

A council that failed to take adequate steps to protect clubbers has been ordered to pay more then £75,000 in compensation to six people injured in falls.
 
The six had had a variety of accidents atl 'theme nights' at  Wolverhampton Civic Hall and had suffered a variety of injuries, including broken bones.
 
The Court agreed that Wolverhampton City Council had not taken sufficient care to ensure the safety of members of the public attenfding events and in particular had failed to take adequate steps to keep drinks away from the dance floor, which could become slippery and unsafe.
 
Owners and controllers of venues open to members of the public have a duty of care to ensure people’s safety. If through no fault of your own you have been injured on property open to the public, you may be entitled to compensation.
