Data Protection – New Law in Place by Spring

Following a consultation exercise, the Ministry of Justice has announced that it has accepted a proposal by the Information Commissioner that serious breaches of the Data Protection Act should be punished by fines of up to £1/2 million. The Government has laid draft legislation before Parliament with a view to having legislation in place in the spring
