A food producer has agreed to compensate an employee who was electrocuted while working at one of its factories.
Having plugged in a portable vibration bed machine that had been placed under a conveyor belt, the man leaned forward to check that it was working correctly. He received an electric shock and was thrown backwards, striking his legs against the equipment. He sustained bruising, lacerations and permanent scarring to his legs. He also experienced ongoing symptoms including tiredness and headaches.
After he brought a claim for compensation, his employer admitted liability for the accident. Following negotiations, a four-figure settlement of his claim was agreed.
