A firefighter who was injured when a speeding car veered around a corner on the wrong side of the road and ploughed into his vehicle has won compensation for his injuries.
Nigel Morley, 45, from Winterbourne, Bristol, was helping a friend by driving her to the railway station in order to pick up her son. Mr Morley’s car was stationary when the accident happened.
It emerged that the driver of the other car was trying to escape from the police, who had spotted him removing his vehicle registration plate at a petrol station and set off in pursuit. It transpired that he had driven off without paying for his fuel.
Mr Morley suffered whiplash injuries to his lower back and neck. As a result, he found it difficult to walk for several weeks and was unable to work for four months. When he did return, he was forced to take on lighter duties for another five months. He still experiences stiffness in his back, particularly in cold weather. Mr Morley’s passenger suffered only minor injuries.
A personal injury claim was brought against the driver of the other vehicle and his insurance company agreed to settle the case for an undisclosed amount in compensation.
Relatively severe whiplash injuries are a common result of some types of car accident. In these cases, compensation can be substantial. If you have been injured in a road traffic accident and would like to discuss a possible claim, <<CONTACT DETAILS>> will be happy to advise you.
