An armed forces veteran has secured compensation for damage to his hearing.
During his service in the Army, he was exposed to noise from guns being fired, as well as from helicopters and other vehicles. Initially, he was only provided with sponge ear plugs. Although ear defenders were later issued to him, they could not always be worn.
By the time he left the Army, he was suffering from noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus. After he brought a claim for damages, medical evidence of his condition and a report detailing his need for hearing aids were obtained. A settlement of £46,500 was secured.
