Licensing – Police Not Always Right

Licensees are reminded that where a licence application is opposed by the local Police on the basis of complaints by residents, it is advisable to obtain copies of the incident logs on which the Police rely if possible.
 
In a recent case, a North Wales night club, which had been closed following a review. The nub of the issue was that complaints by residents had been made, but many of these had proven impossible to substantiate. When the relevant incident logs were examined, the appeal against revocation of the licence was allowed with costs.
