Navy Veteran Receives Five-Figure Damages for Hearing Loss

A man has secured compensation for hearing loss as a result of noise exposure during his time in the Royal Navy.

Despite being regularly exposed to high levels of noise from weapons and machinery, he was not provided with adequate hearing protection. Over time, he began to develop hearing loss and tinnitus.

He brought a claim against the Ministry of Defence (MoD), which denied liability. However, medical evidence was obtained showing that the damage to his hearing was directly caused by long-term exposure to noise.

Following negotiations, the MoD agreed to settle his claim for £57,500. As well as compensating him for his pain and suffering and future loss of earnings, the settlement includes the cost of hearing aids and tinnitus rehabilitation therapy.
