It was alleged that following our client's prolonged heart surgery in 2015, she was transferred to a ward to recuperate and issued a bracelet to identify her as a patient at risk of falling.
When assistance was required, she was allegedly informed by a staff member that by virtue of being in that particular ward, she did not require assistance to move or go to the bathroom regardless of the bracelet or the corresponding notice placed on her door.
Our client subsequently suffered an entirely foreseeable fall and sustained a serious fracture for which she underwent and continues to undergo treatment.
The case ultimately settled for significant compensation, without our client having to give evidence in Court. As part of the settlement, our client’s legal fees were paid by the Defendant.
