The Legal Services Board and the Office of Fair Trading have committed themselves to looking at the will-writing industry.
After a series of high-profile court cases involving unregulated will-writers, it has been acknowledged that there are ‘gaps’ in the regulatory system as regards the will writing industry.
Recently, Scotland took steps to regulate the industry in the form of the Legal Services (Scottish) Bill, which is currently in the Scottish Parliament.
Because of the perceived urgency of the issue, the creation of an appropriate regulatory framework is expected to be carried out on an accelerated timetable.
