The Central Criminal Court has heard how a woman was raped in a bed and breakfast by a fifteen year old after being beaten by the teenager’s friends for her refusal to sleep with him.
Upon being challenged by another female for not sleeping with the male teenager, the woman, 20 at the time, alleges she was asked: "Is my cousin not good enough for you?”
While lying injured on the floor of the bedroom, the woman claimed she was raped while also subjected to serious assault by a number of individuals present.
Non-Consensual
The defendant, 15 at the time of the assault which took place in 2017 but who is now 18, claims that any sexual contact was consensual. This claim was denied by the complainant.
"I said stop and he put his hand over my mouth and then he done that [had sex]," she said.
Timeline
After socialising with friends on St. Patrick’s Day, the woman was invited back to the defendant’s bed and breakfast after the pair had chatted, with the assurance that there would be other females present. Her own friends did not accompany her to the location of the assault.
It was claimed that the teenager undressed and got in to a single bed before others arrived. The defendant invited the woman to get in to bed with him, but she declined. It was at this point that the complainant said some of the others in the room intervened, and that she felt they were making remarks about her. "I pushed [the teen] away. That was when [the older man] hit me."
The case is set to continue.
